1 friend has a son
1 friend will have a kid in a few months
1 friend is muscle behind hardcore drug dealing
1 friend is dealing the hardcore drugs
3 friends have done time, 2 for embezzlment/robbery
2-3 friends regularly do coke

4 dead and add 6 more due to Iraq.
3 going through divorce
ok, that's all i can remember. too many to keep up with. but yeah, im not sure what there's to be depressed about?

Lets not get carried away here. Florida is far more retarded than most can comprehend. Especially when you live in the capital city.
But notice this failed robbery took place in Pensacola FL
And it sounds like a lot of you guys need to find some new friends.

i guess it can define, but that's a lot to go through. i never really believed in that anyhow.

^Its important to differentiate between friends, acquaintances, and associates.
Many of my friends have become associates through the years for various reasons, and others have become just acquaintances. I only have 3 close friends who I've known for 12, 14, and 16 years (I'm 23).

oh i know. i have hundreds of acquaintances. associates...eh? seriously, im not sure i consider anyone i know an associate except maybe co-workers which sounds like a better term or by associate, a partner in crime so-to-speak. which, if it's that, then i got those as well.
still, i know who my friends are and most of these people i could stay with right now if i had to except the ones w/ boyfriends but the married ones i can. oh yeah, like 70% are girls.
but i have no close friends as many might consider close, mainly cause i live no where long enough. try not to get that close, but i have the ability to get gain the trust like that.
but seriously, what the heck is an associate???

Here's the way it breaks down for me:
Close friends: The brothers I never had. Wouldn't hesitate to beat the living shit out of somebody posing harm to my mom or sister if I'm not around. They are obligated to help me move apartments.
Friends: Mostly people I hang out with when I'm away at school. Only known them for a few years but generally trust them almost at the same level as my close friends at home. They know they're on the list of people I'll call to help me move apartments.
Associates: People that hang out in the same crowd as me. I have their phone number, but they wouldn't be the first person I call to see whats hapening on the weekend. I probably would never hang out with them unless its with the group. If they have a large pickup truck, I'll probably call them when I'm moving apartments.
Acquaintances: I might have their phone number but I'd probably never call it. I run into them at parties etc and acknowledge their presence, perhaps even a short conversation. If I call them to help me move apartments, they would pretend they don't know me.

sucks to be some of you. my friends are mostly pretty fine. most of them smoke mary, some of them very regularly. one of them does coke on occasion (he started this summer, he's done it about 4 or 5 times) smokes marijuana like most people smoke cigarettes, and smokes cigarettes more than most people (although he's trying to quit smoking and doing drugs since it's hard to balance that and engineering). one of my friends with whome i've lost contact went to jail for assault. other than that my friends are pretty good, none of them have died, they're all going to post secondary school of some sort (either college or university) so i'm not worried for them.

I know no one who deal drugs, i have no friends who know someone who deal drugs. I know no one who's ever done drugs. I have never seen drugs IRL, besides aspirin and stuff.
I know no one whos been killed by another person, nor someone who have killed another person. I know no one who own a gun, for other use than hunting/competing. I have never seen a gun outside a home/shooting range/shop.
Though i still think America is a better place to live.

Should we infer from that that regardless of how f'ed up this country is, the opportunities outweigh the negatives? Or is it that the opportunities in Sweden aren't as attractive as the ones found here and you'd be willing to risk the exposure to all the crazy stuff that goes on here? So really my question is: Good America > Bad America OR Good America > Good Sweden (or other countries)
More on topic- Now that I think about it, until I went to college all the people I knew/know fell into the category of drug dealer/ uses drugs/ no college (and still none)/ killed somebody (only 2 people I regularly assiciate with)/ been killed (RIP Ron and Wayne). Now my circle of friends has a better profile

Holy crap - I'm almost 40 and I've had a lot of friends who've had kids, but none in their teens. I can think of only one that’s committed a crime worse then drunk driving.
Sounds like your choice in friends gravitates you towards, shall we say, the more unscrupulous?

Sounds like me. I was for the most part a good kid. Most police contact I had was when a cop made me and my friends stop riding our bikes on the sidewalk.
Then I went and got in trouble in college for random crap and now I'm kinda screwed. But its still up to you whether or not you'll let it run you into the ground and turn you into a complete failure or you can try to learn and make yourself better. The second way is a lot more work, but the first way is a lot shittier.
