I have a early 98 ZX2 and want to replace the motor.Dealer says 99 motor is different from 98 but can't tell me what's difference.Does anyone know if a 99 will work in a 98 and what the differences are? SWPSmith

I beleive the only difference was the 4 wire maf on the 98 vs the 6 wire on the 99. It might be the other way around though. But the motor itself is the same AFAIK.

Your right about the MAF - I cleaned my 4 wire MAF today and mine's a 98. To get around that difference just save the intake from the old motor and that will save you wiring problems.

I'm still having the junk yard that has a 99 motor say it's not the same as a early 98.He says 99 is a different number than 98.I tried to ask a dealer if the computer's the same for both years but haven't got a clear answer yet.I'd like to put the low miles 99 in if it really will work.Does any one have definitive answers.SWPSmith:screwy:
