Check your power steering switch. It may be bad, but I don't know that it would kill the car, but who knows. Does it start right back up?

Our 97 Neon SOHC, 150k miles, does the same thing. Used to take a quick sharp swerve, now can happen on gentle right turns. For it to restart we have to put it in Park, turn off ign. & remove the key; count to 25 seconds, and put the key back: It starts right up. Will not start if I only count to ten.
Lots of fun when blocking 2 lanes of rush hour traffic on a friday afternoon! Any idea what could cause this? Could it be a fault in the relays, or the PCM, or ???? D. Denison
