what is a stutterbox, and what does FTW mean?

the shutterbox is the thing on DSMlink where you can put an load on the engine at a certain RPM, to build up boost. (Launch) but FTW, i'm not sure...;) so i'll let someone else take that one. :2cents:

A stutterbox helps you launch your car consistantly by keeping the revs at where you want. Correct me if I'm wrong.
FTW = For the win.

Yes, FTW is "for the win" while FTL is "for the lose."
Stutterbox will not build boost, it allows you to floor the gas on the line and it keeps revs at a specific user defined RPM... like a rev limmiter.
Anti lag will build boost at the line. "The technique involves retarding ignition timing so far as to cause the exhaust valve to open well into the power cycle, resulting in extremely hot and explosive gases rushing past the turbine, spinning the turbo up like crazy." -DSMlink.com

eek guys lots of wrong info in this thread
a stutterbox is essentially a calculated misfire at a preset RPM. It is not DSMLink specific and is used by many. This puts a load on the engine and allows turbos to spool at the line. The longer you let it stutter, the more boost it gets. The higher the rpm, the more boost. It works great for bigger turbos that don't spool very well initially, and it's fun as hell to tinker with.
Having the anti-lag option clicked in Link will make the effects stronger. However, a stutterbox by itself will still build boost off the line.

This is correct.
To add to the anti-lag, it retards ignition timing, set by you, creating a load on the motor and also adds a percentage of fuel also selected by you. Very helpful in spooling larger turbos while staging at the dragstrip.
To get an idea what helps/works... With the stutterbox alone I see maybe 3-5psi after a good 15 seconds @ WOT. With the stutterbox and anti-lag, I can get 15psi within 10 second @ WOT.

So would it be good or bad to get to full spool on a smaller turbo car (say my b16g or future evo III 16g or 50 trim setups) at the line? Would it even be possible?

on my 14b my studder box would spool to about 5-6psi @ 5000rpm. With Antilag (probably the demise of my turbo) I saw 17psi off the line. my Evo316g studders at 10psi at 5000rpm. It only takes about 2 full seconds to build max boost on the studder..
