I am thinking of installing a high volume oil pump in my 63 that has a 350 in it but am not sure if what it would take to get the pan off ? can it be done without lifting the motor?

You need to remove the tie rod, atleast if you have a rear sump? I believe you have a rear sump-pan if the engine is 350.

The pan on the early Novas have a front sump. You'll have to lift it up fairly high to get the pan clear of the frame and oil pump.

You might have to mark your dist rotor and the side with whiteout and remove the dist to get the engine high enough. The will prevent breakage as you will have loosen the motor mounts and engine hoist or jack to raise it.
