Ok i have a 2000 silverado z71 5.3L. and i am looking to make it faster but i still wanna be able to tow and not lose that much gas. i have a k&n intake on it that makes the get up and go lil faster and sounds cool. but i dont really want to spend to much. friend said i can get a clip that changes the shift points and the maxs the speed. do those work or not. or if any one has any ideas in what i can do. i dont want to put and turbo or supercharger nothing like that. thanks for your help

www.nelsonperformance.com Not only is my truck faster and more pleasurable to drive, but I gained 2MPG with my nelson tune.

Nice your getting all that air in with that intake, but trust me...it's not getting out as quick as it could and that means you're losing hp and efficiency. Slap some headers on that puppy. You won't be sorry.

lol how much do these newer trucks weigh? you want a kick ass truck, get a 73-87 chevy that weighs 4000 or less pounds and put a 383 or 400 smallblock in there lol... prolly pulls down at least 12 mpg in the city and can run 12's or 13's in the quarter with the right tires, on a mildly modified motor

Or get a scsb 2wd with a 5.3L, slap on a few bolt ons, a 224 cam, a little head work, and run 12s pulling down 15-20mpg on a set of drag radials. Plus you get the luxury of having a newer vehicle. :grinyes:

You could even pull off 12's with all that on a 4.8L :evillol:
