Key/Door Warning buzzer ??

Are there any issues to be concerned about if I remove the annoying alarm buzzer from the fuse block that tells you that the key is in the ignition when you open the door?

I can't stand that sound, so I pulled it out of the fuse block tonight after work. Everything still seems to work fine, but I only started and ran the truck for a few seconds.

Anything going to come back and bite in the rearend??

Thanks in advance.

Everything will work just fine without the buzzer, but I always bend the prong that buzzes when the key is in and the door is open. You may have to trim the end of the prong after bending it over. The buzzer for the lights still works.

The buzzer has seven prongs. the one for the key in the ignition is indicated with an X

. X - -
- - - -

I hope my "sketch" makes sense. If not I can take a picture and post it later.

Thanks for the info. The buzzer for the lights still being on would be helpful to keep. :)

Well if anybody out there has one they don't need I'd sure like to have it.
I have a 99K1500, old body stlye, and my buzzer/chime unit is missing. I'm old school and forget the lights / keys, and need a reminder.

My 01 Impala and 05 Tahoe have the auto lights and system that prevents hitting the locks with keys in the ignition.

So if you don't need one, I'll send you a pre-stamped mailing pack and a few bucks.

Thanks

haha i took a piece of cardboard, cut it to the shape of the end of the dashboard, and put duct tape over it to make it matching silver, and stuck it on there, so no more buzzzing (but no more interior light automatically). whatever works, right?
