I have a '00 eclipse GT without a spoiler and I just recieved my spoiler from ebay... I am wondering if it's worth installing or to make it a sleeper, is it easy to self-install without making it look bad, and how in estimate to have it installed professionally?
Oh, and how to self-install it...
Thanks.

what color is your GT? i've always wanted to go spoilerless...
i prefer it w/o the spoiler, mainly b/c my rear view mirror all i can see is the glow of headlights and not the headlights themselves. the spoiler blocks EVERYTHING!

I actually like the spoiler for the same reason you don't like it. Keeps the other cars lights from blinding me!

What kind of spoiler is it? Factory replacement type, or are you talking park bench category (regardless of if you wanted sleeper or not I would NOT put a park bench on). If its like a Wings West style, I like those, but thats about it. It's up to you, personally i think our cars look a little wacky without the spoiler (stock or aftermarket). it makes the trunk look longer or something when its off and makes it look funky. JMO

I think our cars look horrible without the spoiler. Just out of curiosity why did you buy the spoiler if you wasnt sure if you was going to use it or not:confused:

I have an oxidized black eclipse...
The spoiler is an OEM spoiler, its silver...
The story is I was on ebay and I saw someone bidding it for $1.00, so I thought I'd have some fun, didn't think I'd win, with a bid of $2, and I won the bid for $1.75, s&h was $25...
I am thinking about repainting the car glossy black, so it doesn't matter about the paint...
I am just worried about if it's easy to install it myself and how? and how much do you think it'll add to my paint job if I ask the body shop to put it on for me... I guess I can ask them myself, but I wanna know at least what's a good price...

If you already had an OEM spoiler then the install will take like 10 min (there are 2 bolts on each side under the trunk lid...unbolt, put new one on, re-bolt, and you are done (you might need to put some double stick foam pad under each side to make it sit tight). As far as paint goes, all I will say is that you get what you pay for. Sure someone can paint your car for 500 bucks....but it will look like yu paid 500 bucks for it. It all depends on how much pre-paint work needs to be done (if you want them to fill any little door dings, or hail damage), how many coats of base, and how many clear, if you want a wet sanded and buffed finish for a "tits" paintjob, or if you just want them to clear it and leave it be. You might be suprized how much it costs for a simple 1 tone paint job is if it's done right. But if you wanna get MACO then by all means...get ready to have a shitty lookin car.
