flashing Air Bag light on the dash

How do you diagnosed what the problem is?

Not really sure. Could be a problem with the wiring under the steering column. Are you the first owner and when did the light start coming on? There are some intresting fuses and plugs under there... I never could figure all of them out, even after replacing my airbag.
