Just a few questions. I have found a reasonable nice 2004 XLT V6 with AWD. The price I can't argue with. The problem is the mileage, it currently has 74xxx on it and before I buy, I want to make sure im not getting a POS.

I haven't had a chance to drive it. But what are some common problems with these. Do they get as good Mileage as they say? Minor things like the radio and cosmetic things do not bother me, as long as the drivetrain isn't going to take a dump on me at 100k.

Thanks in advance.

Gosh, can't make the decision to buy for U but, I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute with 70k on it. It depends on price.
But, IMHO, the new ones are so much less expensive I would look into that especially at MY end (like now). Mine originally cost $25,000 out the door (V-6 ES with 4WD).
Many small issues, but the new ones are supposed to be better. The only major issue was a transmission shift shudder (very light throttle, OD range), which I just cured with a full transmission flush.
Oh yeah...mileage with V-6 is 16-22 mpg (regular)...small tank though....need to refill at 240-250 miles range (the light comes on here).

Best regards...other opinions are welcome

Go with your gut instinct. I went with mine, i bought a 2005 XLS 2.3L engine 4x4. had 11,000 miles on it, now 15,000. No problems yet, knock on wood, I love it! It does have a small gas tank, and the only other thing i don't like about mine is the cruise control is not lighted up at night. Sure i get way better gas milage than the 6 cyl. but i don't need all the power, i do not pull anything with it, it's used as my go to work vechile as i drive almost a 100 miles a day to and from work. The F 250 powerstroke is for hauling the toys, camper,boat,4 wheelers, firewood, ect. P.S. TEST DRIVE IT FIRST!! I won't buy a vechile unless the dealer lets myself have it for the weekend first. Them 4 to 6 miles. if your lucky test drives are worthless in my opion. :screwy: Another thing is the carfax reports are a joke also.I did a check on my wife's 02 tacoma she rolled end over end and $11,ooo in damage, it never showed up on the carfax report. I am done venting now, sorry about the book. Take your time and make sure it's what you want or need, before signing all the paperwork!! I think you'll like a newer one better though, or at least less miles !
