1997 4runner several electrical issues

Several lights went out and I am not sure how to replace them. The 1st light is the gear shift where the Park, Neutral, Reverse, etc. The other is the heater and a/c control panel is. Both areas light up after turning on your headlights. Can someone guide me as to what I need to remove to gain access to these bulbs? Another question, my digital clock randomly turns off and on. Is this just a bad clock/loose wire/bustes fuse? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
