Well last night i was bringing a friend home and a stopped at a stop sign and the just took off normal and i felt a bunch of clicks on the gas pedal. So i turned off the music and sure as hell it was clicking like a mother, and i knew what it was right away from last years experience. Thats right, ANOTHER SPUN BEARING! Idk how it happened because i always let the car warm up about 5 minutes before driving it and i never floor it unless its been warm for at least 10-15 minutes and i just changed the oil 3 weeks ago and the oil was almost to the full mark. Guys i just dont get it, this is the 3rd engine in this car that has spun a bearing (2 under my ownership) and i cant put another in it. Im bringing it to the mechanic today to see what he says, he has put the last 2 engines in so idk whats going on here. You guys know that i take care of my car, i just dont think this should be happening to me. I'll keep you all posted with details.

Wow thats sounds bad. Are you going to keep spending money on this car or are you going to get another one?

damn man thats terrible luck. How many miles were on this one when he put it in? How many are on it now?
Just out of curiosity, how was your oil pressure? had you noticed a difference more recently? Do you have an aftermarket gauge?

Ok, i just got back from the mechaninc and when i was there he told me to start it and pop the hood so i did. He started revving it up and then he just revved it to about 6500rpm and this chunk of plastic or metal shot out and almost hit him in the face. But after that it stopped clicking! It turns out the power steering belt tore a little and was cutting into the cam gear protector each time it went around. I was so damn realieved. He said that even he was worried when he first heard it cause it sounded exactly like the last spun bearing but it was coming from the other side of the engine. You have no idea how happy i am now. All i need to do is replace the ps belt and im set.

Woah that would have really sucked if it was another spun bearing, we would've had to have started a "save the R/T" fund for ya.

Yeah im so relieved, i mean you have no idea. The peice that almost hit him was actually some teeth from the power steering belt. We pulled it off last night and put a new one on, that took us almost 2 hours cause mitsubishi is very crafty how the do their tenisioners and all that but we had to figure it out first. After we got it figured out we just flew through it, it also doesnt help that you have about 1 inch to get your hands in and turn the bolts. But at least it works fine now and is very quiet under the hood, so i think the belt has been going out for a while. It honestly sounded like a spun bearing though, im just so freaken glad it wasnt cause i would prolly be on my way out of the 3/S family.

2 hours?
if you had the service manual, it would have helped.

That would have helped. It would have also helped if my dad wasnt so stubborn, he just kept looking at his engine for comparison (he has an 07 yukon xl lol) instead of going on the internet. When we finally figured out that it was the top bolt to swivel on instead of the bottom that made things go really fast. O yeah and that 2 hours included us going to get the belt too lol.
