Windows?!

Hey guys,
I just bought my first GM a 95 Grand Am, but the bloody windows don't work correctly. After taking the door apart it seems to me the 'regulator' as they call it, is tweaked on an angle, ether because the bars has been bent or because the plastic clips that attach to the window (the sash?) have loads of play in the rivets. So my Q to you guys is how substantial is changing the whole regualtor? looks like some big rivets holding in on there, better for a shop to do it maybe?.
The other option I was thinking about was changin the windows to power, the wires seems to be there for it but not sure if it's possible(also seems much easier to find wrecker power-window parts).

I'm praying sombody has an easy fix for this, but somthing tells me it's gonna cost some $$$

Any help is appreciated.

you can pick up new regulator for relatively cheap or even a used on at the bone yard. Theyre not exactly easy to change out because theres not a lot of room to work with ur hands in there but its do-able if u have the time and patience. I did my 95 about 2 years ago and dont remember everything i had to do otherwise id give instructions. Not sure about the power window deal.

To get the regulator out you need to drill the 4 rivets out. Before drilling the rivets, however, remove the window glass. Once the glass is removed and the rivets are drilled out, take the 2 bolts out of the slider that is towards the back of the door, roll the regulator down until its nice and compact, then wiggle it out of the door. It should come out one of the access holes in the door in the front if I remember correctly. Changing to power isnt' all that difficult if you have access to the donor car. Wiring should be there from the factory, you just need the switch and the regulators. When you install the new regulators bolt them in, that way if you have a problem or you need to tweek the angles they are at its a simple job of loosening or removing bolts. Good luck, and be careful of the edges on the doors as they can be sharp.
