I am having a frustrating problem with my 1995 supra n/a it's 5 sp.w/104k.I have taken it to shops but none have fixed it.#2 speed sensor in tranny has been replaced(didn't need it $$)new plugs and wires. It has been pulling codes 31 and 42 forever. Finally thanks to some great people on auto forums I'm on the right path maybe.I think it may be speed sensor #1 in the odometer.Did some soldering on that board and now there's no code 31 but code 42 is still coming up.This car stalls erratically when slowing down to stop after eng is warm.It might run fine for a week or two then it stalls,it always restarts and if I turn the ignition off and restart it might not do it again for a while. If I floor the accelerator as it begins stalling it picks up(although roughly)and doesn't stall untill I begin to stop again,UNLESS I shut it completely off and restart.I have also had a/c and cruise control problems during all of this.Dont know if its all related?Someone suggest I cut some wires in the dash to do some bypassing of ss#1 but I'm hesitant to try that just yet.Any ideas would be appreciated.............:banghead:

Yeah, thats me too,I have posted this problem on alot of message boards.
hoping someone had some ideas.I was hoping their was something else I could try BEFORE I start cutting wires and tying them off,May be the only option here.

Try checking out MKIV.com They have info on almost anything you need to know on the MKIV. I read their pages for almost a month and it was really informative. If that fails and you can't solve the problem by what they might suggest then I would bite the bullet and take it up to the dealership and let them solve it. I hated dealing with the electrical stuff on my car so I wouldn't feel comfortable giving you my own advice on the matter. Good luck and I will try to find something else on the matter for you if that doesn't work.

I have looked on a lot of forums even that one and I have gotten some ideas but nothing exactly like my problem, espec. the fact that the a/c and cruise work sporadically along with the stalling.Alas,Iv'e been workin on this off and on for 2 years so,prob. won't give up now.

I had a 93 n/a and the a/c never worked in it ethier. There is a control box behind your radio which is probably going dead which controls all of your functions with the a/c. It's about $600 from the dealer so I would suggest if that's the problem trying to find one at a junkyard. I wired a toggle switch to my compressor to bypass the box and it worked fine after that for me. Your cruise could also be something similar. All of that stuff is under the hood and to the left side of the engine bay near the corner.

Is their any possibility that when I had a new stereo installed something could've happened there?

I did the splicing in the odometer and now no more codes and it is running sweet.I want to say"thank you" to everyone who replied and gave their ideas. The real EXPERTS are other Supra owners...Thanks guys:biggrin:

Think it's time to sell!!!! I am back to where I started.:banghead: The stalling, rough idle and cruise not working.I got somebody coming to look at it this weekend that wants to buy and has the money and mechanical ability to own a "project car". I am in no position to keep spending money on this car and it is my daily driver and I need something reliable.Though it hasn't left me on the side of the road yet. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that helped me out and it is a sad moment for me to let the car go.
