Does anyone know the correct gap size for the spark plugs? It is not listed in the Haynes Repair Manual for my 94 Sentra.

I just put new Platinum bosch plugs in my 1994 sentra 1.6. The plugs said that they came pre-gapped and that I should not regap them. They were all about 0.04. My old plugs that came out were between 0.045 and 0.056.

I am in your boat and couldn't find the gap width so I left them at 0.04 which seems to run great.

Do you guys think it is better to run them as spark plug recomended gaps or car recomended gaps? I am using specialty (platinum) plugs.

well, first off, those platinums are probably going to crap out on you earlier than they should because you didn't read the Sentra Read Me and find out that you should be using NGK spark plugs.

2nd, go by the Nissan recommended gap. which I think is .035-.045

I bought them because I didn't even know about this forum when I was doing the tune-up. I would have gotten some NGK but I had no source for this great knowledge. My Sentra's manual said it is best to use platinum plugs so I went with the best platinums I could find at Auto Zone which were the Bosch. If they burn out early then big deal because I can install new ones in 30 min myself. :grinyes:

Is that .044" good for a 92' Sentra too? my plugs are due for a change and I read on the sticky it's best to use NGK or Denso plugs?

I must of read that same thing about using platinum plugs before I joined this forum to because I bought some cheap as$ autolite platinums  ,although since laziness prevails I havent installed them yet...had a Mazda years back that I put some NGK's in and didnt like them but Ive never tried the Denso plugs....are they good?.....between the NGK and Denso is their one that is more favorable? and what about this "iridium"....I noticed the cost jumps from a couple bucks a plug to 12 or 13 bucks a plug......are the iridium plugs that good they cost that much??......cuz I got to get me some wires too

You might as well put a new distributor and Rotor on there as well because it was really easy and I could clearly see that I needed it once I was done. The kit for new distributor and rotor was like $15 at autozone. I got the red one:grinyes:
You may also want to put a new PCV valve on if it has been a while.

ngk is oem on most japanese cars. .044 is a good gap to use on almost any asian 4cyl fuel injection engine. this should answer all q's for this thread.

NGK is preferable over Denso and NGK Iridiums are probably the best plugs you can get aside from HKS Iridiums. But the HKS's are such a pain in the ass to get.

Welcome on your first post on AF
Beter to use what the good book calls for.
Pitch the bosch in the trash can.
Your car calls for.
if 1.6 engine
NGK plugs BKR5E set at 39-43 gap
If a 2.0 engine
NGK plug BKR6E standard plug
Or NGK platinum PFR5B-11
Gap at 31-35
Check the manf but some platinum plugs you are not supposed to regap or set gap on them.
If they are not set right pitch them back and get ones that are.
