Hey everyone. My friend and I are in the middle of a 7m(n/a)-7mgte swap in his 1990 Toyato Supra. We have everything swapped in: engine, ecu, igniter, starter, eletrical lines pluged in, tranny in and hooked up, etc. etc. The only thing is, when you go to start it, you turn the key and the only sound you hear is from the ecu making a faint *click* sound. We have every plug plugged in that would plug in. Now there are a good 10 plugs just not attached to anything throughout the car because they won't fit in to anything. Now does anythign need to be spliced to work or what? Any help would be appreciated...

What kind of troubleshooting have you done. Have you checked the basics? Battery good and connected? Is the starter main power line hot? When you turn the key does the starter trigger wire get power? Is everything getting power that should be? Have you run a jumper from the battery to the starter and tried to hot wire it?
Where exactly is the "click" sound comming from? The passenger foot well is where the starter relay is located. Give a listen down there. If that is the source of your click then everything up to the relay is working. The problem will be between the starter and the relay.
Just incase you didn't already know the FSM is located here:

We've only checked to make sure everything is plugged in and everything is grounded. We considered it being a bad battery because his battery light is on but I'm pretty sure that's normal until the car is started right? And yeah, the *click* is comming from the passenger footwell. We just thought it was the ecu making a clicking sounding but it could be something associated with the starter...Do you think it could have just gone bad or something during the swap, or could something not have been plugged in. Thanks for your help.
P.S. We don't have a voltmeter so we haven't really dont much in-depth troubleshooting.

Your going to have to get a multimeter and do some troubleshooting. They are only $25 or so. If you are getting that click from the foot well then the starter relay is kicking on. You need to see if the power is getting to the starter.

Alright, one of those problems turned out to be the fact he didn't buy a fuel injector resistor with the motor...so we need to find one. Second, and the now major issue is...all the extra wires we now have. When we installed the new harness, it left a bunch of things that aren't plugged in...Are we supposed to be splicing stuff? Thanks for any/all help.

A resistor pack? You should not need a resistor pack. Did you buy just the motor, or did you buy the motor complete with harness and ECU? If your motor didn't come with a harness and ECU then you have problems. The 7MGE ECU will not run a 7MGTE.

With the motor we also got: the igniter, ecu, wire harness, and misc. motor pieces. One of the problems is definitely the fact that we didn't buy the injector resistor. Every 7mgte I've seen has had one....plus the website I've been referring to has talked about needing one...The problem we are having now is that when we removed the 7m harness and installed the 7mgte harness, all the connectors didn't meet up with other ones. We fixed the problem with the starter...but now it's something with spark. It's getting fuel but no spark. We are pretty sure it has to do with all these unplugged connections that don't match up to anything...

I seems that you picked up someone else's hacked up project. Did it come with a coil pack? Are all the sensors there? Are they in good shape? This is why I bought a half cut.
I had a look at what you were talking about with the resistor pack. When I hear of resistor packs I typicaly think of people that are using swaped injectors. My mind wasn't on the right track.

Alright let me start over:
He has a 1990 7m Supra and we are swapping in a perfect condition(with harness(not hacked), ecu, igniter, intercooler & piping, etc. etc.) 88 7mgte. The 88 connectors don't seem to be matching up to the 90 connectors...BUT the colors of the wires are the same. So should we just splice them and say screw the connectors or have we messed something up?

Now that makes more sense. You didn't mention that you are using an 88 motor in a 90 body. Now wonder things don't match up. 89 was a change over year. You are going to have to splice things.

Do you know where we could purchase and/or find a fuel injector resistor? We have searched everywhere and the only plan of action is stealing this one off of this guys parted out supra in his backyard....We would like to do it the right way but can't seem to find it anywhere...Thanks.

UPDATE:
We got our hands on a fuel injector resistor! We probably didn't get it by the best, most morals means but we got one...We also did some major splicing and soldering since the clips don't plug into eachother. And now.....the car RUNS! The only issue though, is it's throwing quiet a bit of fuel. But seems to slowly be getting better, I'm not sure if it's just relearning everything or what...Thanks for the help.
