Help with 'no start'

My '91 Civic had difficulty starting a few weeks ago but it would go after a couple of tries. Recently it died while idling and I haven't been able to get it to start again. It turns over and the electrical systems are working but when I let go of the key it dies. The ECU is reading an error code '1' which means a problem with the o2 sensor. Would that cause a 'no start'? What could be going on here? Thanks for any help!

Hi Noob! Welcome to the forums! :) Nope, a code 1 should not prevent your car from starting. So your no start condition could be caused by some part of the dizzy not working (usually the ignitor, most autoparts stores can test it for you) or it could be your main relay. A standard search will show there are many posts on this problem. GL
Also if I understand your post, your car starts normally but dies when you turn the key to "run"? If so there might be a problem with your ignition switch at the back of your lock cylinder. GL v.2

you have to first verify that everything is working...just because your getting a code doesn't mean that the o2 sensor was working properly before the car stopped starting. Make sure you have spark and fuel and go from there...I doubt the 02 would prevent the car from starting..it would cause erratic idle, but not likely a no-start problem...if everything else checks out make sure the wires going to the sensor are connected properly if they are replace it..your problem sounds more like an igniter or an ignition module though. Perhaps a blown timing belt or tensioner

My car is runnon on 0/2 O2 sensors for this weekend, does not cause a no start issue..actually, hasnt really messed with my idle, just gutless as hell.

Thanks for the input. I tested for a spark and that seems to be fine. I can hear the fuel pump come on with the key in II and there is some gas coming through the fuel filter but it doesn't seem to be as much as it ought to be. Does that sound like a main relay problem?

No. Change the fuel filter for one..there should be alot of fuel coming from there, they do get clogged up over time..sepecially with the age of our cars, its not an expensive part and can definately starve your engine for fuel, but if it just plain not trying to start then most likely is not the problem. Change it anyway.
