I have a 2002, 40th anniversary GT. Awhile back I painted my hood scoops and I didnt like it. So I tried painting them back to "Dark Cherry". Now it looks like garbage because of so many different paints and it is cracking. I was just going to replace the hood scoops but I cant find them anywhere. Also Does anyone know of any hood scoops that I can use with the same hole cut in the hood? I dont feel confident in cutting the hood. It doesnt matter if they are functional or not. I just want it to look like normal. Thanks for the help.

why not just sand them down and start over?

I removed them yesterday and I cracked one of them. So I would have to put a filler on it now. I just think it would be easier with new ones.

You gotta love GM's naming (and pricing) of their parts. The scoops are called "hood air extractors", and the part numbers are as follows.
LH (driver's side)- 88894521
RH (pass side) - 88894520
they run $285.92 each dealer retail.

and remember for that price for each hood extractor, it comes withthe extractor and not the drip pan, or the other parts that go with it. Which im sure you can reuse the other parts. Like i said above, i priced these a while back thinking i would put those on a regular grand prix hood. But the thought about cutting on my hood didnt sit well incase i screwed up and for that price(for 2) you could almost have an aftermarket hood

I just bought a couple of the "Eclipse hood scoops". If I end up not liking them then I will try something else. I think they look good on other cars though. What do you guys think?
