Center console

Has anyone removed their center armrest / console? I have a 99 Monte Carlo Z34 and I'm trying to run a cable from my Kenwood stereo, under the center console and out through the ash tray compartment and into my MP3 player (sick of FM transmitter distortion). I found the two screws in the bottom of the storage compartment, and took those out but I can't seem to find the screws the connect the front.
Any help would be appreciated.

They are up under the shifter bezel, right where the console turns from horizontal to vertical.
