Might buy a G20...

I might buy the G20 because I realy like the reliability and price, but the horsepower is a little low. I'm going to be 17 in a few months and would like to know what risk this car is insurance wise. I'll probably have it under my dad's name to keep it low and me as a driver. The G20 is the only Infiniti available in stick shift, right? How is the aftermarket, I haven't seen any G20s hooked up, or even around my area. I'm looking to spend $8,000, but less is nice. I have seen a couple Infinitis in my paper and the most expensive one was $6,000 I like the I30 a lot but I've only seen autos. Is there anything I should look out for when buying a G20? How can I squeeze a couple horses out of the engine? Can I see some pictures?

Yo yours is nice. How much does a front bumper cost like that? Very nice. I like that Red G20 on your website with the white rims. Nice combo, but your pictures didn't load.

The g20 is available in auto and manual. Things to look out for? Not much to really look out for. The one ting I can think of is make sure the leather is in decent condition when you buy a used one. G20's are very nice cars. Little slow, but that's about it. Great handling. You will really enjoy your g20 if you buy one.

Try a 4-door family sedan, with Airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, a security system, and ABS...and if you get the newer 1999-2002 then you also have side-impact airbags. It doesn't get better than that. Now if only the US ins. co.s knew that it was in the top-ten safest cars as recommended by Europe's #1 ins. co., it would be even cheaper.

And you probably won't. There aren't many G20s on the road (at least relative to Civics, etc.) so if you mod yours, you will get lots of attention.

For $8,000 private party, you should be able to get a really nice condition 1996 Touring (which has stiffer suspension, a fold-down rear seat, and a cool "T" badge, amongst other features). Don't settle for anything less. Any other questions just ask. Good luck.

aghhhhhhhhhhhh. 4 door family sedan.. damn. What about the VW GTI, Subaru Impreza RS? I know the GTI is high risk, but whats the G20 compared to it? medium? I can't try those insurance quotes online because no insurance company does that in new jersey. Our auto insurance sucks so much, I think all state is moving out of New Jersey because the insurance is to bad, expensive. Well, they won't accept new people. Damn how about a Golf? Maybe I can get some cam shafts, chips, intake/exhuast and bump it from 115HP to 155HP. It's only 2500 pounds (MKIII, a.k.a. 1995-1998)

No, no, no. It's INSURED as a family sedan. And the insurance risk clocks in "Average" for the class. I pay $75 monthly with full coverage and a $500 deductible from Farmers Ins. Keep in mind that "Average" for a family sedan is way cheaper than "Average" for a sporty hatchback or whatever class the GTI falls into. It sure doesn't look or drive like a generic family car either! See the G20 Toronto website at www.g20toronto.com and you'll see what can be done with the car. Some people have turboed the G and been very happy with the horsepower boost - and I'll grant you it weighs 3000 lbs but the weight assists the handling.

hmm, well I researched the cars so much, that when I started, the car I wanted to buy was a Dodge charger, or an old vette. hmm too much research I guess and after two years I got to japanese luxery, and euro economy (golf). (With the idea of owning camaro, firebird, bmw.. I preaty much looked at every car before I stoped at japanese and euro) After all the research I turned from "American muscle only, everything else sucks" to "Imported cars only, american cars break down too much/cheap looking" I'll admit, american cars have improved. But I don't like the new american cars out now, and I'm young so I wouldn't want a new car. Intresting what research does. But I think Subaru RS and infiniti G20 are my final destination. I found a subaru rs, 50,000 miles for.. guess... $9,500!!! what an incredible deal. Too bad its automatic...:mad: Red isn't too hot either. Maybe on an infiniti g20 with white rims, or a golf with black rims and smoke tails, headlamps.

Here's an interesting statistic: If you took an average American car, and pushed it into a lake with the windows up and doors shut, it would take 3 minutes to sink. But the average Japanese car takes 7 minutes. I learned this on the discovery channel. It's because of the tighter tolerances in manufacturing. And you may have noticed that the G20's reputation for reliability far surpasses that of many other Nissans - that is due to the fact that g20s are manufactured in Japan.

You may want to try www.cars.com and www.autotrader.com to search for a used car. Also at www.infiniti.com they have a dealer locater, most Infiniti dealers have exemplary customer service. (Like when they financed my G20, and got me a good payment, etc. then they said Oh, BTW, that price is with an excellent 2/24,000 warranty. Everything expensive on my car is covered with a $100 per visit deductible. :) Also they offered me a loaner worth 6x my car when my rear seatbelt broke - cause seatbelts are warrantied for the life of the car and they always wash your car if it's in for repairs. Also many have free-car-wash Saturdays for anyone who drives an Infiniti.)
