hose question

I have been going over all of my vac lines looking for rotted or soft ones since the car is so old. I found one that looks like a vac tube (5/32) that I don't understand. It comes from what looks like the transmission on the driver's side and hooks up to a metal tube on the fender. The tube is curved over and open on the other end. This metal tube forms part of the bracket that holds the windshield resorvoir, but it doesn't tie in to it. There doesn't seem to be anything near by that would feed this connection with vacuum. Is it a vent hose of some kind ???

Thanks,
Mac

It's a vent for your transmission. Perfectly normal for that line not to be connected to anything.
