Hello,

As the title says. I drive a 96 Intrepid that I use for commuting to and from work now. I just started using it a week ago. It has been sitting for awhile. Anyway...It is leaking gas. It leaks when it is running and it is coming from the rear of the car by the gas tank. Is this a fuel pump problem or a torn line perhaps. Keep in mind that this car sat for about sixs months in mothball before I took the paddles to her again.

Better check the lines for leakage at the fuel pumps pressure and return line connections and the o-ring seal where the pump goes into the tank (Accessable from in the trunk area, under the trunk liner you will find a fuel pump access plate on the trunk floor behind the rear seat), the fuel Filter (located under the car on the passenger side ahead of the rear wheel} and the lines themself for any cracks. It may also be possible that the o-ring where the filler neck goes into the tank is cracked and leaking, hopefully the plastic tank itself is not cracked.

Is it a 3.3 or a 3.5?The 3.5 has problems with the fuel rails cracking and injector o rings leaking, the fuel rails are made out of a plastic material and are not cheap, dealer part only
