Come on! I have placed this question twice before with no reply. Surely someone can help me. I have a 2005 F-150 XLT 5.4 liter with a 3.73 rear end ratio and 9800 miles. I purchased it new in July 2005. It gets 18 mpg on the interstate, but only gets 8 mpg consistantly in town. I am really disappointed. Is this normal, or could I have a problem that can be fixed?

I do better than that in town with my V-10. Your highway mileage sounds great, but the city is terrible. I wish I could help, but the only advice I can offer is to sign up and ask at the Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forum. Lot's of knowledgable folks over there too.

maybe you have a lead foot in heavy traffic, you know flooring it up to a traffic light and then slamming on the brakes.

Are you getting any engine warning lights indicating a problem with the computer system. Does it idle properly or is the engine rough. without any problems you probably have a lead foot. How many miles since it was tuned up.
