Just Got New Street M Greddy9 RX-7!!!

I just bought the new Street M Greddy9 RX-7 from Hobby Search. I ordered it on a Monday and got in on Wednesday! That is fast shipping considering I picked the cheapest method possible, and I live in Canada taboot! Anyway, back the model...what are some good color combinations? I was thinking something along the lines of a Candy Blue body with a White, Silver and Blue interior. What do you think?

If you plan to order some models, I highly suggest Hobby Search. The URL is http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/plamo/index_e.asp?Bno=2878874&Typ1_c=102

Do you live in the north pole? :)
SAL is 2nd class airmail, and when a cargo has a space after 1st class packages are loaded, it gets to the destination as fast as the standard air mail. If not, it still takes 7-10 days to most of the world. Surface mail does take 60 days or so. No matter which online store you use, it's pretty much the same, so maybe HS is quoting wrong.

I was looking at the assebly guid and parts shots on the site, I noticed that fujimi dosent provide a way to do the RE-Amiya headlight conversion.... that kinda sucks...DAMN FUJIMI!!!!! But i do like the separated hood, good potential to do engine detail, that is if you can locate and engine...

Not only are the headlights missing, but the wheels are a few inches too small as well: the
ones in the kit come from a Lancer Evo kit, whereas the ones on the real thing look like 18in
or maybe even 19in (you can find those wheels in the Tamiya Toyota TS020 kits BTW).

I checked my TS020. Yes indeed, it does have a good looking Enkei, and this is what I needed for another RE Amamiya model. (This happens when I don't put together the kits I've bought.)

I'll definitely scratchbuild what they call "sleek light" and the rear diffuser for the Greddy 9, but that's after I finish the headlights for other FDs.

Yo guys, this model is tight! Still haven't found the engine. If you checkout Hobby Search, they show the contents of the model! It comes with madd side skirts and body options. It also comes with three wing options, including a GT-Style wing!

i am going to singapore and i was wondering if the rx7 is easy to get over there???
and if u can build the engine???
if u can i am defenantle getting it
p.s is the molding good???:smoka:

Hey!

Yeah the molding is decent, but I'm having a hard time getting the body kit to fit on the body. It fits and all, but when you put it on the chassis it just comes off, even if its dry. I am having some difficulties with this kit, I wouldn't recommend getting it because first of all, its expensive. And second, the parts don't fit very good.

I expected Tamiya quality, but I was fucking wrong!

LOL, you can't expect Tamiya quality from anyone but Tamiya.
"Fujimi Standard" are basically...
* The fit of a new tool is decent, but modified reissues are horrible, and Greddy 9 is definitely this case.
* Try to minimize the tooling cost. They have a tendency to use existing parts, sometimes from a totally different car. RX-7 has generic Nissan RWD chassis, which is used on the Skyline and Silvia.
* Pursuit for 80% perfection. "Always" leave some part inaccurate, for example the headlight of the Greddy 9. I know the "sleek-light" is optional on the real car, but the kit doesn't represent the picture on the box.

Fujimi kits are on the border of grade B and C, and generous modelers think it's workable, and better than no kit. More critical modelers think Fujimi kits are very poor.

The engine can be taken from Tamya's RX-7 R1, but in this case, I recommend to use the entire chassis assembly of Tamiya on Fujimi body.

May take some effort to make it fit: the Tamiya
RX-7 floor pan is considerably wider than the Fujimi body allows for and the Tamiya track width
is too wide as well so even the stock wheels stick out from the fenders.
Aoshima floorpan fits better to Fujimi body (Aoshima has better chassis details than Tamiya anyway).

Another (less expensive) way would be to use the Tamiya bodyshell
and make the Fujimi front bumper and engine hood fit that.

HTH,

If you look closer at the contents picture on the Hobby Search site, you will see the correct front end facing down underneath the hood.:flash:

Can anyone post pics of the wheels?

I think what he meant was the headlight, which is just like the normal car, even though the Greddy 9 has fixed headlight.
Here's the picture of the wheel.

I've seen the Greddy 9 on both RE Amamiya and Enkei wheel, so the brand is correct. However, I think Fujimi's Enkei is too small for the wild design of the Greddy, but we have Toyota TS020 wheels to substitute (except it's the center rock, instead of five nuts).
