03 silverado wiper issue

Does any one know if this is an issue with the wiper motor or the motor assembly or is it something else.

Last night my husband had the wipers going on his 2003 Chevy Silverado. He had them on the intermittent speed. Then all of sudden they went to the fast speed. They stayed like that for a moment then went to the slow speed. He tried to turn them off and they would not shut off. When he got home he removed the fuse. He let it sit and then put it back in. They automatically turn on to the low speed. If he wants a different speed they can go on high. But he can not turn them off and he can't use the intermittent speed. He removed the fuse yesterday evening. Let it sit till this morning and put the fuse back in the same thing still happened.

Any suggestions on this would be helpful. We do not believe its a motor issue but the acutal assembly switch unless anyone knows a bug with this? Did GM have a recall?

I'm not 100% sure on your car, but my Caprice did the same exact thing and it was the washer pump, which also contains the circuitry for the delay wipers. I used to unplug mine from under the hood.

Try to get a real deal AC Delco part or an Anco. I'm on my 2nd Napa unit and won't buy another one, they only last about a year and start doing fluky things.

The problem is most likely the circuit board that controls the wiper speeds. The GM part number is 12494773, and GM refers to it as a wiper cover kit. It's been a problem since before the body style change (different part number, but same problem). You'd think GM could've fixed a known issue with the re-designed truck, but nooooooooo!!!!!
