hey guys. I put my transmission in my town car at 170,000 miles and it now has 192,000 miles on it. so i am getting ready to flush the tranny with some new fluid. now i haven't do this in quite some time so is there any suggestions you guys can give me like new secrets that have formed in the years. this car has 192,000 miles and with all the traveling i will be doing this holiday season, i will probably have about 200,000 miles on this car by christmas. i want this car to last forever. this tranny i have in there is a rebuilt one so any suggestions would be great. thanks.

Yes, it's time. Personally I prefer to take mine to a flush shop cause I don't like the mess, but they soak me for about $60/$70 every time. I always add the Lubegard Red when their finished, I bring it with me and tell 'em I'll be adding 20oz more, so leave it a bit low for me.

The DIY folks get ready with a new filter, new pan gasket, some use synthetic fluids but the Mercon is what the factory calls for. The torque converter has a drainplug at the bottom so you can get most of the old fluid out of there as well. I don't know how you'd get the fluid out of the cooler, maybe compressed air?

I'm not sure, but the chart below shows "Now Mercon V can be used for all Mercon Applications"
