1998 200SX Brake problem

I just bought a 1998 200SX a month or so ago. It had a grind sound from the left front.
I checked the front pads for wear and they needed changing, the rotors were ok,so I bought some Brake Best Premium Semi Metallic from Oriellys.
Put them on and the same sound from the left front. Well I took my car to Shop I've used in the past and told him the padds are new and he said all he saw were that my rotors were getting thin. I have pulsating from my brakes at all. I went ahead and had him put on new rotors, still have same gring sound. You can't hear it, but feel it when you beake. About at the last 10 mph. I've thought of getting the pads at the Nissan dealership!!!
Also my tires, Walmarts Douglas tire, yeah cheapos, make alot of road noise
as I'm slowing down also. What gives with this?
I've thought about getting some Dayton tires or some BF Goodrich.
I've always heard that Daytons are softer rubber, by Mom and Dad both swear by them.:banghead:

Can someone please offer some advice

stop buying cheap stuff.

no, really. get some yokohamas or something. daytons suck balls. make sure that your tires are at least "H" speed rated. anything less than that will make your car soft and wallowy in turns and at highway speeds, and can be dangerous. so you really dont want softer tires, just better ones.

as far as brakes goes, if you have the 15" wheels you could slap on some front brakes from a 1993 nissan nx2000 with ABS. the rotors are bigger, the pads are bigger and the calipers are slightly bigger. if you go to checker/shucks/kragen auto parts stores, their raybestos brand is decent, but be sure to get the BLUE BOX of pads/rotors/calipers. their red box is pure crap. anyways, id bet your grinding is because of rust buildup on your calipers where your pads seat. and youll have to specify what brakes you want when you get a brake job done because most shops will put on the cheapest stuff by default.

if you want to swap to the larger NX2000 front brakes(you need 91-93 NX2000 brakes WITH ABS), it will cost roughly 20-25$ for each rotor, and about 55$ for each front loaded caliper (which you need because it includes the whole caliper plus pads). the calipers will also have a core charge about equal to their price, but since you dont have the old calipers from a NX2000, youll have to eat that price as well. unless of course you can find someone who doesnt know cars well and convince them that your 200sx brakes are indeed nx2000 brakes. the last thing to remember is you need at least 15" wheels for this swap to fit. if your 200sx came with the factory 15" 5spokes, itll fit beautifully. if you got smaller wheels, it wont fit.

95% of the time if you take them back AFTER you've done the swap, they wont even look into it and give you the core back. Just don't have them side by side so they can see that they are different.
