Hi i have a 1990 98 and love it , but recently i have been having a starting problem in the morning. If it is alittle cold around 40degrees its a a hard start it turns over good but wont fire right away tried several things like pumpimg the gas pedal, holding the pedal to the floor ,and doing nothing same result every time it finally goes after cranking on and off for 4 or 5 minutes it comes to life but smells like gas and chugs till the excess gas is burnt off .If i dont give it a little gas when trying to start it, it just turns over and over and does not try to fire.If the temp is around 60 out it starts fine. another thing sometimes when i step on it when driving it sort of back fires or hesitates

Could be a weak coil. Check the resistance of the secondary side of the coils. All three readings should be close. What engine do you have?

A '90 should have a 3800 Vin C
As for the issue, it is rather confusing. Possibly a weak coil as stated above...otherwise...eeesh, not sure. What about fuel pressure? Any codes?
