First what engine?
On 3.3/3.8 liter:
1. Disonnect battery negative cable.
2. Remove windshield wiper housing.
3. Remove bolt holding top of alternator mount bracket (vertical bolt) to engine intake.
4. Remove bolts holding outside of aternator mount bracket to alternator mount plate.
5. Remove the bolt holding the top of altenator to mount bracket.
6. Remove mount bracket.
7. Rotate alternator to rear of car and disconnect electrical field wire from back of alternator as well as the B+wire nut and remove the terminal.
8. Remove bolt holding bottom of alternator to lower pivot bracket and take out alternator.
You may be able to get away with just loosening the alternator and pushing it back.

"You may be able to get away with just loosening the alternator and pushing it back." Ditto. Don't recall if I rotated it back or forward but, I know I did not have to remove the alternator or the wiper tray. 96 GC 3.8 ltr

On my AWD 97 GC with the 3.8L I just removed the alternator I didn't even try to remove the wiper tray. my arms are larger than the average person.. so I just took the alternator out and I could reach all 3 plugs on the back no problem.. not saying the last one was easy to get to.. but it can be done that way.. good luck :smokin:
