My job is great except for the pay. :( I'm probably gonna get a raise in Oct., and either it will be enough, or it wont, and I'll have to quit and find something else.
In the meantime. I need to get a weekend job. I need ideas. NO foodservice and preferably no retail...
help, please. :(

doh... oh yeah... all my real skills are carrer-ish, but i was thinking of some lackey job.
Excellent computer skills, primarily in database design. Basic HTML design skills.
I do have very good customer service skills (from my prev. position,) but I hate the public. :/ Damn double edged sword.
Thorough accounting training (one class away from a B.A.), but I HATE accounting.
I'm able-bodied, but probably wouldn't fare well at pure manual labor. :(

I hated working retail... People just suck sometimes...
Worked at a Blockbuster Video for 2 years, and you'd be surprised at how many assholes would freak out about a $1.35 late charge on their account... People would actually get so mad, they'd threaten to sue us over it... Then they'd say some dumb shit like "Forget it, I'm going to go to Hastings!" (Hastings is a local books/music/video store). And I'd say "Fine! Go ahead! You're nothing but an Anal Friction Blister anyways, and if you go down there, I won't have to look at your sorry ass ever again!"... But out loud, I'd say "sorry about the inconvenience sir/madame, let me see what I can do to resolve the situation"...
So I got a job where I didn't have to deal with the general public. I'll never go back to retail (or any other customer service job for that matter).

I'm a programmer for Agilent Technologies now... But after I worked at Cockbuster video, I got a job through a temp agency soldering circuit boards at Hewlett Packard (which split off its Test and Measurement Organization into a new company called Agilent Technologies), So I guess I still work for the same company.
Anyways, the work was pretty easy, and its the first job I had that required any skill. Some of the stuff was kinda boring, but I got really really good at soldering, and I took alot of pride in my quality. And, it paid pretty good too. I think I started at $10.60 an hour (which, for Spokane, is pretty damn good).
Plus, since it's not a job where you have to deal with the pubic (er... I mean, public), they don't really care what you look like... Piercings, tattoos, ripped jeans, whatever. It's a really liberal company.
Now, all I do is sit here and post on AF for 8 hours a day.
So where did you work retail?

There is something to be said for promotion!

FYI......
All work sucks. If it was fun, they would be selling tickets.
Case in point,Disneyland.Fun place to visit, pay up large for tickets.Lousy place to work, get piss poor money if you are silly enough to want to work there.
If I knew of a part time job that was fun to do,and paid enough to cover the shortfall between my nett income and my wifes spending capacity,I'd be keeping it for myself.....Maybe I should work part time as a strip club bouncer....slapping randy old men and fuckwits, while watching women get nekkid, and getting paid for it sounds like my kind of part-time job!
