front end body work

was involved in a small accident in whichI rear-ended a truck. trucks fine but my front-end got a little cracked and the right headlight assembly was broken. I saw the piece I need, the whole front bumper piece, and can buy it relatively cheap. is it easy to take one off and put a new one on or are there hidden things that lie in store. it looks like I can remove some bolts and thats it. Is it as simple as it looks?

This may not be the most helpful post, but do you have a repair manual like a Haynes or Chilton for your specific Taurus vintage? I'm pretty sure my Haynes manuals have talked me through things like that before, but I've never actually had to do it so I haven't looked for that procedure to see if it was listed. I know it talked me through swapping a functional wiper motor from a sable to a taurus for a friend who was having problems and owned both.

If not, you could ask a mechanic whom you trust. If you have some honest ones in the area you live they'll usually give you an idea of what's involved if you want to tackle it yourself rather than bringing it in for them to work on.

I won't be able to offer you much help on this topic, but chances are pretty good others won't either if you don't share the model year and body style of your Taurus (as an SHO front end is slightly different from the "regular" body styles).

Usually on cars with wrap around bumper covers, the top of the bumper is attached to the frame and be reached from under the car on the front or through the trunk in the back.

Then there will be a few bolts connecting the bumber cover to the actual bumper, again from underneath. NOTE*** When the cover is in the process of being removed you may want to disable the air bag system in the event of accidentally setting off one of the collision sensors.

how do i disable the bags? Im wondering why they didnt go off anyways. it was enough impact to do damage, but not deploy the bag?
