UHmm the firewall is just the panel that seperates the engine compartment from the pax compartment. Its the only large vertical sheet of metal in the engine bay.

If you're looking to run power wires for a stereo or anything on the driver's side, you'll have to make a hole with a cone step drill bit. On the earlier P10's, there was a hole perfect for wiring. Unfortunately, that hole is now gone, making life harder on us.

On my 91 P10 there is a perfect hole. Right where the speedometer cable goes through the firewall is a rubber gasket. You just slice the gasket with a knife and slide the power wire through. It will come out by your steering wheel.
Before I knew about that hole, on my previous P10 what I had done was drilled a hole through on the drivers side. The best place I had found was right above the gas pedal and slightly to the left of it.. maybe 2 inches at the most. On the otherside of the firewall should be a nice big open area where you can slap that puppy through.

Yes, I told him about that hole on the earlier P10's. He asked about a '95 P10, which doesn't have that hole. When they switched the engines in '93.5, they removed that dandy hole. Drill baby, drill.

What do you mean when they switched engines? Hasnt it always been the SR20DE?
I know later on the top of the engine had the Nissan part replaced by the Infiniti logo.. but other than that arent they the exact same thing?

From '91 to '93.5, the P10 was equipped with the SR20DE low-port intake manifold. It has a seperate coil, lower AIV tube, and a lot of unnecessary emissions junk (in front of engine). From '93.5 to '96, the P10 has the SR20DE with the high port intake manifold with integrated coil, no lower AIV tube, and less "junk" in the front (among other slight things). When switching to the newer SR20DE, they removed the hole you're referring too.

You're correct, they did change valve covers form Nissan to Infiniti. I forgot to mention they also changed intake camshafts. So technically, no, they're not EXACTLY the same engine, just close enough.

almost correct.. the '91 to '93.5 has the high port and the '93.5 to '96 has the low port. :)

Port meaning TB opening is what I was trying to say. So if you talk openings, as in ports, the early ones had low ports. It could be looked at both ways.

"Ports" in this case means the intake ports on the rear face of the head.
High port head has low mounted throttle body and vice versa.;)
