We have a 1994 New Yorker that did the same thing and it was very irritating. Took it to the garage and our trusty mechanic found that our problem was the ignition switch. He changed that out and now it starts and drives fine. Hope that helps a bit.

Since the fuel pump comes on I would think that the ignition switch is OK. Injector pulse and spark both depend on a signal from the crank position sensor. If you have access to a scan tool, (even the cheap auto zone variety will do) watch the engine RPM value on the data list while you crank the engine. If the computer is getting the crank position signal you will see the cranking RPM, if not you will see zero and you know you need to check the sensor and the wiring back to the computer.

probably either the crank sensor or cam sensor
