99 Transmission problems

Last year I had my transmission rebuilt. Since then I have put over 24,000 miles on it, so it is out of the 12,000 mile warranty.:banghead: The problem I have is that in 1st, 3rd, neutral, and reverse it makes a weird rubbing/grinding sound. In 2nd it sounds fine. When I put it in reverse, it just sits there like it is in park or neutral and if you give it a little gas it just revs up. It will then bang and lurch into reverse. I sat out in the driveway messing with it and it did better on going into reverse after about 10 minutes. I don't think it has anything to do with being warm or cold, since it had the reverse problem when I first got it home after 20 minutes of driving. When I come to a stop, it lurches like its going to stall out.

I think it is a problem with the torque converter. Does anyone have any insight into this problem? I'm hoping one of you will say its just quick part replacement.

Thank you for your time.

You may want to search this forum for "Transmission Range Sensor" or "TRS." This part has been known to cause all sorts of electrical gremlins with the transmission as well as other systems (power steering, radio, etc.).

There have been other posts with symptoms similar to yours.
