2000 Honda Passport

I recently noticed large blobs of a black tar-like substance leaking from the bottom of both door panels on the passenger side of my Passport. What could be causing this and how do I keep it from reoccuring once I clean up the mess it has made on the inside of my vehicle? Thanks for any help!

I just had the back panel of the tailgate off and I noticed that they used a black tar like thing to glue on the plastic dust shield or whatever it is. Mine was fall off in some places but I didnt have any tar dripping out yet.

I've got the same on my rear door. I does indead hold up they plastic vapor barrier.

Maybe it is hot outside and after 6 years it is starting to break down is running?

here in Louisiana I have seen this on new vehicles
they just use too much of that mess
just remove the panel remove as much of that mess a you can
if you can get your hands on a heat gun it will help
it is going to be messy good luck

I have noticed this in my door jams too!
I just try not to touch it...it's sticky!
I'm glad to know what it is though...it was creepy thinking it was only my truck...kind of exorcistish.......spooky

I'd love to know something easy to remove it with, if anyone figures it out.

I have a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo LSE 4WD. I am having the same problem. It seems endless. A few years ago I bought the car from someone and there was one tar puddle on the bottom of the door jam. It has continually gotten worse to where there are numerous puddles on all four door jams as well as tar-like streams coming from the bottom of the door panels.
What can be done to stop this? I have cleaned it off many times (which is hard to do) but it continues to happen. Are there any re calls or anything for this?
