help with MAF sensor

I have a 98 with 3.8 and I need to replace the MAF Sensor. I ordered the part but it will not be here for 3 days and I need to drive to work in the meantime. I drive about 20 miles each way. The car will run ok with the MAF unplugged but is this safe to do for the next three days? I don't want to risk any damage from driving. I hope someone can help me (again) Thanks!

The best thing to do is disconnect it and see how the car reacts. I've driven with mine uplugged for about a week until the part arrived. The idle will a little erratic until the engine warms up. There may be some loss of gas mileage but for 3 days that won't hurt. All the PCM does is detect absense of MAF input and reverts to pre-programmed MAF/VAF tables. Good luck.

BTW - You may get a MAF DTC and SES light but it won't hurt anything.
