Well my other original thread dissappeared but hers id the one with everything fdone i hope i cleared it up for you guys so that you can do lambo hinges.

The only toold used were

Brass tubing one big one small both should fit just right
nylon thread or a scriber
File coarse and medium
Needlenose pliers
super Glue or epoxy glue(dont use regular kit glue the hinges wont stick to it)
patience and talent.

heres the tool i used

heres the door after i sawed it off use the files to clean it up a bit

this is a revised hinge only for the Corvette but the stright piece should be long enough to support the whole door
http://mediaservice.photoisland.com/auction/Aug/20028302696097943390095.jpg
here it is mounted to the body you will have to modify the interior and chassie to fit the hinge
http://mediaservice.photoisland.com/auction/Aug/20028308509343985010620.jpg
this is how it should open when the door is attached make sure you clear the windshield pillars and the roofand that it opened straight
http://mediaservice.photoisland.com/auction/Aug/20028302118577121358195.jpg
the door is attached(use super glue or epoxy on the door and on the hinge and make sure you dont glue the hinge shut)

hers how it should look from behind the door the panel will still fit over the hinge and hide most the opening mechanism. my friend glues the rod closer to the middle but it causes opening problems after the interior is assembled the last 90 deg bend is to keep the door from tilting sideways during opening

so how did i do?.......

Wow, that's excellent, so simple - great 'how to'.

Can't wait to try it out on something but don't know what???

I wonder, can it be modified so that the door swing outwards slightly at the same time, like on some import conversions???

Awesome!!!

I'm going to try that on at least one of my models. What did you use for the hinge?

the hinge has to be connected to the strongest point of the Body(in this case the frame that holds the fenders and windshield pillars

Needlenose pliers, Brass tubing, and wire.

for the brass get the smallest yet stronget available(look at the pic) it should give you an idea of what size it should be.

i eyeballed the hinge so i dont have any measurements.

Very nice! :DOriginally posted by flyonthewall
I wonder, can it be modified so that the door swing outwards slightly at the same time, like on some import conversions??? Geometry says 'yes.' It would be a matter of changing the angle at which the tube part of the hinge was mounted, thus changing the plane the door would move upon. Then there's the matter of making everything line back up... :p

this is going to be hard to explain now that i dont have a digi cam anymore. the cowl is the strongest point for the hinge to be on(bottom of the windshied) the sewing thread is a method i use to open doors and for glue always use epoxy.

update on the car itslef its been on standby since i last posted this
