Goodyear Comfort Treds

Have a 2005 2 WD Vibe/Matrix W/Auto. Great little car. Gets a consistent 35-38 highway at a steady 65 MPH with 13K miles.

Am considering dumping the junk Continentals for a set of Goodyear comfort treds. Has anyone tried them on this car?

Am also thinking the ride might improve slightly more if I go to 205/60-16 versus the stock 205/55-16.

With the extra .8" outside diameter I see no clearance problems. Also the minor drive ratio change should not be an issue as I pull no trailer, run mostly in flat areas and seldom have anymore than the wife or some luggage with me.

Has anyone done either of the 2 mentioned changes?

Thanks for any feedback.

Sorry, no experience with those changes, but you can safely run away from the Continentals to anything and get an improvement. Goodyear, BFGoodrich, Michelin, Pirelli, anything.

In general, for the exact same tire, 205/60-16 will ride more firmly than the 205/55-16

Did the oversize Goodyear switch. After 10K miles the difference seen has been night and day.

Also and FWIW my gas mileage has stayed the same "per the odometer", which in reality is a 3% gain.

Bottom line, I'm glad I made the change.
