Flowmaster Exhaust

I bought a new 3in Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust. I am very disappointed in how quiet it is. Isn't American Thunder supposed to be the loudest exhaust they have? I was just wondering if anyone else was as disappointed as I was or if anyone has any suggestions on how to make it louder? I do have headers and a y-pipe with no cat. Thanks

I hated my flowmaster exhaust. So I went with magnaflow and love it. Its not as loud at idle but when you get on it. It really comes alive...

Do they make a 3in single in dual out muffler? How much did you pay for it?

Did Magnaflow? Yes they do. I love it. It flows better than flowmaste to.

Yep, if you want 'that sound' everyone's after, then its magnaflow on the v8 cars... But I still like having a flowmaster on my v6.
Everyone has there own opinion, but on a v8, the opinion is nearly unanimous.
I can remember a few threads about this debate from several months ago...

I think mine is 2.5 out. Not sure if you will find duel 3in out.

cut outs or dumps......true duals baby. but im sure u guys live somewhere u have to get your cars inspected every year...move to fl and u can have your shit as loud as u want..or your home owners association will allow without narking on u for being loud after hours lol

The way I look at cutouts is this....
If you need cutouts, you have one of two problems. Clearance issues for a free flowing exhaust, or you make a TON of power that simply can't flow without dumps.

I run 3" duals with Magnaflow mufflers. My problem is clearance for those pipes. The over the axle part is very close to the axle and it makes the brake line too close for my comfort. Also, I get a little banging at my rocky idle where the pipes come through the torque arm mount.
Thinking about running dual cutouts and having some custom quieter set-up for around town. I think I would actually pick up 8-10 RWHP with that. Might lose a little torque down low though.

Just put on a cutout right after the cat if you still have to pass smog, if not then before. I did that and its the sound your looking for.

me and a buddy(guy with welder) were taking my cats off when we ran out of time...So we secured the cat back and well....i guess you could say i have true duals....(dual cat option, only without cats) so its loud....not bad when cruising though. pretty quiet then. I hate it because its a trashy way to do things...but until i get a welder or get this guy to finish it im stuck. Sounds mean as poo though. I havent had anyone try to race me for a while now...i dont know if this is why but its a possible reason.
