Side marker light!!!/ autotech

I own a 1996 GTI VR6 and I noticed that the passenger side, side marker light was out so, first things first, I changed the bulb. Nothing!!! I have no clue on where the wire runs or much about wiring in general. Has anyone else had this prob or know what to do???!!! Also, does anyone have the autotech 2.5" Stainless cat back on their VR6??? If so would like to hear comments
