95 talon overheating

I just picked up a 95 tsi awd from a friend. after a week of driving it it has begun overheating. I just got an oil change so I bought some coolant and filled the radiator up. still overheating. The fans are working and everything. Can anyone help. my wife says if its not fixed soon then its going bye bye and i really dont want to lose my second dsm. thanks
