Hi people, i have a 2000 silverado.
there is a high pitch sound, some kind of interference that is getting worse by the week. i think from the stereo speakers,
the weird thing is it happens even with the stereo off.
anyhelp would be great. Thank David

do you have anything added to the stereo system?? is it factory bose equiptment? if so the amp is bad most likely.

Did you ever find out what was making the noise?
I have had the same irritating noise for a couple of years now.
Radio on or off doesn't seem to matter. The pitch changes with the engine speed.

i havent found whats causing it yet, it does get louder the faster i drive.
its not coming from the speakers like i originally thought, it sounds like its in the dash somewhere;
if i find it ill let u know. damn u had it for a couple of years now.
it sucks because everytime i want to go on a long trip, i take the wifes car now. the noise is that irratating. im gonna go deaf from puting the stereo loader than the high pitch noise.

You may have a bad stereo head unit. It may be putting out a frequency that the engine is picking up to increase the sound while you are driving.. I use to hear it on my old 83 CJ 7 jeep. After I replaced the Head unit.. the sound went away.

This is rather odd but, duing routine maintenance I disconnected my battery and cleaned my battery connections. When I restarted, the noise seems to be gone now.

That is strange.. maybe you were picking up a frequency with your bad cables?
