Blower Motor Stuck On

Hi everyone!
My 1998 concorde (3.2 liter) has the heater blower motor stuck on. It blows heat all the time. I have a digital climate control module and it will not shut the blower motor or heater off. When pressing "Auto" the a/c compressor will engage and pressing "Off" it goes off, but the fan and heater stay on. The temp control seems to be working. If I turn it up the air gets hotter. If I turn it down the air gets a bit cooler. It seems like both the a/c and heater are on. The buttons that control the air flow are working. The knob that adjusts the fan blower speed has no affect at all. When I unplugged the control module the fan motor still continued to run.

Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this type of situation? Thanks in advance for your help!

You can go to the local auto store and get a repair manual for your vehicle, if you don't have one, the wiring diagrams might help you, to understand the system.

Right now, I would probably pull the electrical connector for the blower. You might be able to just pull a fuse. By killing the circuit, it might allow something to reset, then it might work normal. I don't usually get that lucky, though.

Some automatic temp control systems have their own diagnostics, with obd11 you might need a manufacturers scanner to get the info. OBD1 usually you could press a couple of buttons on the control module, to get info.

Do you have Automatic Temperature Contorl if so your ATC module is bad.

Thanks for the reply. I have replaced my ATC module and the temperature is working ok now. However, the fan motor is still staying on and is not being controlled by the ATC module (even when turning the manual fan speed control).

Can someone please help me with determining the cause?

if not module i'd see if you could get to the switch unhook it or pull the fuse and go to advanced or autozone to get a hanes maual for that car.good luck.....

Thanks again for the reply. The fan goes off if I pull the fuse. When I start the car, the fan starts running with no climate control. When I turn the ATC on I can adjust the temperature ok (a/c or heat). It has to be something outside of the ATC module. What would keep the fan turned on?

Same thing happened on both my son's '94 and '95 Concorde's. On one it was the ATC and on the other is was a bad motor speed controller (or Fan Blower Motor Resistor.) Got a rebuilt one for $49.99 at the following link. He also does rebuilt Cliamte Control. I got the info from someone else on this forum. He goes through Ebay and I did a search for a Climate Control and a fan blower and then went to his web site from there but then called him and ordered the parts rather than going through Ebay. He was also very good about talking to my son on the phone while he was replacing it, explaining where the part was and walking him through the procedure to replace it.
