325 i tapping noise from engine

I have a 1993 325i with 153K miles. There is a tapping noise coming from within the engine (near the firewall on the passenger side). I originally thought it was a fuel injector (my 1987 325i had a similar sound), but now I'm not sure.

Any suggestions at what to look for?
