Directional Signals Out!

I have a '93 240 wagon with 223,000 miles on it. Great car! The directional signals recently went out, and I bought a new directional flasher unit from my Volvo dealer, who is 75 miles away. Cost me $35. I took the flasher unit to my local mechanic, but he said I also need an emergency flasher unit, which activates the directionals. So probably I didn't need a directional unit after all?
Another 240 question: My wagon has 2 fuel pumps -- one in the tank, and one under the car, between the tank and engine. One (or both) went out recently. The Volvo dealer said if I was going to keep the car (which I am), I needed to replace both pumps. So I did, and $700 later, my old Volvo runs like new! Even after 233,000 miles, all four cylinders pump 165 pounds. New, I believe it was 175 pounds.
One more thing: if you want to see alot of 240's still running, go to Washington, DC. I was there recently, and there are a ton of 240's still running there. Tom McGeehan, Somerset, KY.

Congrads. If you plan on keeping this car, they are very simple to work on. Checkout the Brickboard.com. Tons of info, and alot more folks replying to problems, fixes, etc.
BTW. Company I work for runs a base in Albany. I worked there about a yr in 01.
