New tires?

I just bought my 2004 chevy cavalier LS sport 2 months ago, and not thinking about it I didn't check the tread on the tires. These are the first performance tires on a vehicle I have ever had so im not sure how to tell if and when they will need replacement the tires that are on there now are eagle one im not sure if those are stock on the chevy for that year also the car has 28000 miles on it so im not sure if they have been replaced. Any help would be great thanks.

Take some pics and post them. Also do the penny test - hold a penny straight up in the tread to see how much it's worn and take a pic of that too and post it.

My daughter has a 1994 Cavalier and will need new tires soon.
Should the best tires go on the front or the rear?

i would think they would go up front seeing as how its the drive/steer wheels, but i have never heard of anyone buying cheaper tires for the rears, not worth it. just buy the tires in a set of 4, they usually come in packages and are cheaper when bought as a set.

If you're only replacing 2 tires, then they go in the front. The best 2 old tires go in rear.
