They've got to be all over. Theres like 4 in my area (Minneapolis/St Paul MN) so theres got to be atleast a couple in San Diego. I would go to a car gathering some night and ask around. My guess is you wont find a specailty DSM shop, but you should be able to find an all purpose shop.

i live in pinellas county in florida, and i couldnt find anywhere nearby. the closest commercial/professional tuning shops that i could find were on the other side of the state, real far away, and they all offered dyno tuning, like $500 to dyno tune, cheapest i saw was a shop about 3 1/2 hours away offering $300 for a dyno tune. i was so saving up and getting ready to do something like that. but then i started hanging out at the local ricer spot(quaker steak) and met some great guys who knew their stuff. they had one guy is a mechanic at a dealer, the other guy sells audio (i think?) and another paints. but they are all dsm professionals, real good and really know what they are doing. then they told me about shops that are local that do dyno tuning, tunes for like $75-$100.

id say 85% of the time, if you dont know who you are looking for exactly, the pros you find on the net are going to be an extreme inconveinience, unless you live in a highly populated industrial/urban area. just do what thor said and go to some car meet or hangout, or find someone who is driving a hooked up car and ask them. when i went to the hangout, i came with a buddy, and i drove in, parked somewhat near a couple other dsms, and just sat and chilled on the hood of my car, 10 mins later or so they walk up and start talking to me about cars and dsms.. awesome.

Yea I started reading about some place in Philadelphia(20 min from me). Advertisng their awd dyno jet and all. They tune with dsm link too and they sell it. Might look into them down the road.

There is a tuning shop in LA that a few of my friends have gone too in and they specialize with the AFC and they have an awd dyno....they charge about $150 an hour and you get as many pulls as you can in that hour....and they can usually get it done in that first hour...If you want to drive from San Diego up to LA its a couple hour drive but I can get the number for you and you could call them....just let me know....

Alright I got the info...the name of the shop is Tuning Technologies...and their number is 909-783-1200...and my friend said that they only charged like $75 to $100 an hour....they did my friends WRX in like 45 minutes with AFC...and he gained like 40 whp out of his tune...and my friend got his EVO tuned with AEM tuning software and it took a little over an hour...but he got a good 70 whp out of it....so it was well invested...

I live in San Diego as well. I had my motor built by Millenium Motorsports in Temecula CA, they deal with alot of DSM's and they could help you with your tuning or atleast point you in the right direction. If you want the contact info I'll give it to you.

Also here in SD we have a local DSM board. I will shoot you the web addy in a pm if you are interested. The guys on there can be dickheads but as long as you don't ask dumb questions you can get help with anything you need.
