Hello everybody, also own a DSM. I totally love these cars but man are they a pain in the ass sometimes. I own a 1996 Eclipse RS yes non-turbo (but I wish I had a GSX). For the first year I had no problems in tell one day I kind of felt car wanted to stall out on me on the freeway doing around 75 mph, it kind of jerked but nothing else then a couple of seconds later it started jerking really bad. The rpm needle started flickering up and down and the speedometer went from 75 to 60 mph. I tried gassing it even more but it made no difference; I felt my speed coming down so I down shifted to 4th gear and the rpms of course went up, it kind of helped but the same thing happed it started jerking hard so I took the car out of gear and the car totally just turned off on me. Lucky me I had enough speed to cost me off the free way right on my exit. I pull off on the first street and I try turning my car on but nothing happens. I open the hood and let it cool thing it could of over heated. Ten minutes later I try turning my car on and it works. Never did I have the problem again in till I took my car to Rocky Point. On the way to Rocky Point I felt my car jerk again so I pulled over on the first jerk and pop my hood open. I could see nothing wrong; I check my oil level (of course I turn of my car before I checked my oil), alternator belt, power steering belt, and any thing else I could visually inspect. I saw nothing wrong so I closed my hood and kept on going. It never did that again on the way to Rocky point or on the way back. No sooner later about a month after I came back form Rocky Point it started doing it even more frequently (by the way the weather was getting hotter). I never got a check engine light or nothing except to check the oil. I add a little oil even tho the oil level was fine. It made things a little better. Then one day then check engine light goes on and says that cylinder number 2 miss fired so I open my hood and hear a clicking sound like a electrical arc clicking. Take it to my mechanic and says to change my spark plugs. So I did felt a little better but did not solve anything. Then one day my car wouldn’t take off as smooth like it didn’t have all its power in till it hit 3000 rpms. When ever I went over 3000 rpms the car felt better. Then one day just for the fun of it I rev it up to the red line and after that the motor never felt like it wanted to die me before the 3000 rpms. The problem still resides. I just can’t have my car on over half and hour before it starts acting up. My best guess is that it might be the fuel filter, fuel pump, spark wires, coil pack, ISC motor, or something to do with the vacuum system. Please somebody help me. Just today it started doing something it never did and I am pretty sure it has to do with the same problem because it stated right after it started jerking. I get of the freeway and keep on gassing the car so it won’t stall on me but when I take my foot of the gas pedal and the rpms slowly come back down then when it reaches around 2500 rpms it sharply falls down. Please some one help me. :banghead:

Wow, I didnt get jack shit out of that paragraph. You should use the default font and size and separate it into paragraphs separated by blank lines so we dont get a headache trying to sort that out.
If its throwing a cylinder 2 misfire code, I would guess thats the problem...

Did you check the coolant level? Why is your oil light coming on if you say you have the right amount? Something dosn't add up.
And :1: for the normal font suggestion.
