Manual more than auto in touring?

According to all the MSRP #'s I've seen, in the touring model the manual tranny is more than the auto by about $1600. What gives?

Also, I've seen the auto listed as shiftable. Does this mean it is of the "auto-manual" type? If so how well does it work. I've never heard of one being met with rave reviews, with most being luke-warm at best.

The touring manual model is more expensive because you get the upgrade in wheel and tire size from 17inch to 18 inch.

my father has driven both and he seemed very happy with the shifting on the automatic car and actually thought it pulled harder then the 6 speed car when accelerating:silly2: and the auto works just like a stick from what he's told me if you put it in first and floor it the car won't shift unless you shift it, so if you leave it in first you'll hit the rev limiter...

So if they perform equally, the real question is , which model of transmision can handle more power and last longer.:o
