Stupid SAFC Question

Hey guys, I'm new to actual tuning and I was wondering. If you are fuel tuning with a SAFC, do you also need a Wideband O2 sensor to monitor... or does the SAFC monitor? (also I realize that DSMLink is the ultimate answer to all my questions... and I plan to at some point us it... but not right now) Thanks in advance.

A WBO2 is a good idea but not necessary. IIRC the SAFC guesses A/F ratios.

to tune your car, a wideband would be awesome. but not everybody has one so....
the safc has some sort of a/f gauge//o2 voltage meter, but its a pain in the butt to navigate through the menus quickly enough back and forth when you are tuning your car. instead of a wb you should at least have an actual a/f gauge and an egt gauge, and that should be good enough for a basic tune.
oh and....get a dsmlink.

you will need a logger, a narrowband 02 sensor doesn't tell you anything useful

i was just saying that to get a good quick tune having only inexpensive parts(a/f guage and egt). a logger isnt necessary, but extremely helpful, a wideband would be very helpful too. i got my car street tuned with just safc, a/f guage, and egt guage, and now it runs a whole heck of a lot better. but yes a logger would be a very good tool to have in the tuning process.

I seem to have no problem navigating thru the menus quickly...
Also, you can wire up the afc to read your o2 voltages so you can tune with it but its not that accurate. A datalogger or a wideband would be the better solution.
